British Railways built 2-6-2T 41xx Class No 4165 heads an officer's inspection salon on 30th July 1964 which, by this time, had lost its smokebox number plate. The photograph shows the difference in the signalling layout near Sanctus Road once the 1960 signal box was operational. The splitting bracket signal controlling the junction to the SMJ is now on the north side of the level crossing and, unusually, the arm showing that the road has been set for the SMJ is lowered, the train being routed to Fenny Compton via Kineton. Built by Swindon works to Lot 369 in October 1948, No 4165 was to remain in service until October 1965 when it was withdrawn from 2B Oxley shed in Wolverhampton to be scrapped by J Cashmore of Great Bridge.
