GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

Ex-GWR 4-6-0 4073 Class No 5036 'Lyonshall Castle' passes through the station on a down express in June 1957. The locomotive has no smokebox number plate as it heads the 9:08am Margate to Birkenhead service on the main down line. Built by Swindon works to Lot 296 in May 1935, No 5036 was to remain in service until September 1962 when it was withdrawn from 81A Old Oak Common shed to be scrapped by J Cashmore of Great Bridge.
