Collett 48xx class 0-4-2T No 4816 arrives at Bearley with a mixed train from Alcester on 2nd August 1938 with a mixed train from Alcester, comprising 70’ auto trailer No 76 (Diagram T) and various goods wagons at the rear. This engine was built at Swindon in 1933, renumbered 1416 in 1946 (when the 4800 number series was required for 2-8-0 engines in the 28xx class which had been converted to oil burners) and finally withdrawn in October 1956. To the right of the engine can be seen the entrance to the platform. The two doors visible here gain access to a porters’ room / store and the gentlemen’s lavatory respectively.
