Ex-GWR 4-6-0 County class No 1010 'County of Caernarvon' is seen standing at Platform 5 the head of a down Class A express service on 10th August 1963. The bridge girders carrying the railway over Great Charles Street can be seen in the foreground as can the point work that denoted where Platform 7 and 8 started and finished on the up side of Snow Hill station. Built at Swindon works in January 1946 No 1010 was to remain in service until July 1964 when it was withdrawn from Swindon works to be scrapped in December 1964 by J Cashmore of Newport.
