Ex-GWR 4-6-0 King class No 6017 'King Edward IV' is seen entering Platform 7 whilst at the head of an up express service to Paddington in June 1959. Built at Swindon works to Lot 243 in June 1928 No 6017 was first allocated to Old Oak Common shed where it was also allocated in August 1950. During 1954 No 6017 was fitted with the 'Alfloc' water treatment system to be followed by a double chimney in December 1955. Allocated to Stafford Road shed, sometime prior to March 1958, No 6017 remained at the shed until July 1962 when it was withdrawn from service to be scrapped in May 1963 by Cox & Danks of Langley Green nearOldbury.
