GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
GWR Route: North Warwickshire Line
Birmingham Snow Hill Station: gwrbsh1640
Initial steelwork construction phase of the new Snow Hill
station by the contractors EC & J Keay Ltd in April 1910. One of the main
girders can be seen here supported on the timber trestles after being moved
along the temporary four rail track. These girders were 89 feet 8 inches long
and 9 feet 6 inches in depth and the heaviest weighted 59 tons. These girders
supported the platforms and trackwork across the basement parcels area at the
north western end of the station adjacent to Great Charles Street.
