GWR Route: North Warwickshire Line
Birmingham Snow Hill Station: gwrbsh1689
An advert from the Great Western Railway Magazine of 1911,
depicting the construction methods used in the glazing of the main roof at Snow
Hill station. Reduced maintenance, reliability and ease of construction were
important features. This system had been previously used at; Kings Cross,
Euston, Marylebone and Charing Cross stations in London and at Nottingham,
Sheffield, Glasgow, Wemyss Bay and Edinburgh stations. The glass panes were
made from quarter inch thick rough cast glass.
