GWR 4-6-0 Castle class No 5040 'Stokesay Castle' is seen at the head of an up express service to Paddington arriving at Platform 8 on 4th July 1936. Built at Swindon works to Lot 296 in June 1935 No 4073 was to remain in service until the final years of Great Western steam being withdrawn on October 1963 from Saint Philips shed in Bristol to be sold for scrap during May 1964 to Coopers Metals of Sharpness.
