GWR 0-6-0 No 2309, a 2301 class or 'Dean Goods' locomotive, is seen standing on the centre up through road whilst waiting for the right of way in April 1914. The firemen is standing taking a quick breather in a tender piled high with coal which indicates the amount of effort he will be required to undertake over the next few hours. Built at Swindon works in August 1883 No 2309 was to remain in service until April 1931 when it was withdrawn from Worcester shed to be scrapped by Swindon works.
