View of the South end of Snow Hill station showing the old booking halls and station entrance via Livery Street in 1907 shortly before demolition. The track within the station is ballasted with ash and covers the sleepers which was common practice up to the early part of the twentieth century. To the right at the bottom of the photograph is a GWR 2-6-2T 39xx locomotive.

Robert Ferris writes, "The earliest 39xx engine rebuild dates (3901 and 3902 in February 1907) which means there is a minor discrepancy in dating the photograph as being 1906 as given in several books containing this photograph. I suspect that this is because there is a reference to the rebuild of the station commencing with 'site preparation and clearance' in September 1906, but it appears to me that the roof must have survived the winter. This is supported by looking at image 'gwrbsh1140' which suggests to me that the final dismantling of the roof took place on a bright spring or summer day and not in the depths of winter".
