GWR Route: North Warwickshire Line

Danzey for Tanworth Station: gwrdt2826

A GWR map showing footpaths and rights of way in relation to the Birmingham and North Warwickshire lines

Between Danzey and Henley-in-Arden the Birmingham and North Warwickshire Railway crossed several footpaths as this plan shows. The construction of a new railway is bound to interfere with long established public and private footpaths. These would need to be stopped-up or diverted as appropriate. The Railway Company would therefore agree with the relevant local authority and landowners the necessary work, and detailed maps were drawn up to show the proposals.

On this plan, the top map shows a footpath between Tanworth Lane and Ramshill Lane being stopped up completely as an alternative route by Ramshill Lane was available. A photograph of the extreme skew plate girder bridge over this road at this point can be seen in image 'gwrdt1371'. Also on the top map a short section of a second path is shown diverted alongside the new railway. The lower map is about a mile further south and shows a path diverted alongside both sides of the railway and a new accommodation bridge being provided under the railway for the footpath.
