GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Fenny Compton: gwrfc2254
View of British Railways' Blue Pullman service, half a mile east
of the station, on a Snow Hill to Paddington express on 23rd June 1966.
Introduced in 1959, these units were the forerunners of the High Speed Trains
and had a 1000 bhp North British/MAN engine in each driving car. Unfortunately
they had a terrible ride, but the guy in the window looks relaxed enough. These
were eight car units. John Evans was standing on the recently lifted trackbed
of the old SMJ route to Towcester when he took this photograph.
