GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

Looking north along the ex-SMJ lines to Stratford upon Avon on the left and the ex-GWR lines on the right. The SMJ station was closed for nearly a decade prior to the 1960s re-configuration of the lines from the ex-GWR to aid the movement of iron-ore trains from the Northampton quarries to South Wales. The replacement signal box was a BR design totally bereft of character and was built in between the two routes a little further south than the original joint LMS and GWR joint signal box. The track on the extreme left led to the ex-SMJ siding.
