The goods yard, a single 300’ siding, which could accommodate approximately 14 wagons

Close up of image 'gwrga762'. In 1889 the goods yard comprised a single 300’ siding which could accommodate approximately 14 wagons, controlled by a ground frame. The nearest wagon is a six plank open of unknown origin. The original wooden platform lamp posts can also be seen in this picture, these were replaced c1905. The track was flat bottomed rail supplied by Rhymney Iron Company Ltd on conventional wooden cross sleepers. The sleepers are covered with fine ballast, which was a common practice on railways in the 19th century.
