GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Hockley Station: gwrhd686a
Close up of image 'gwrhd686' showing some of the advanced
groundwork being carried out to the left of the Outwards and Tranship shed. The
width combined with the apparent depth would indicate that this excavation is
associated with providing drainage for the new 'Top' shed. To the left of the
excavation appears to be a facing wall for the new shed's outer platform (which
can be seen in image 'gwrhd677a'). On the extreme
left, only a portion of the building can be seen, is the pumphouse which housed
the artesian well that supplied not just Hockley but many of the GWR's
facilities between Soho to the north and Tyseley in the south.
