GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

Close up of image 'gwrhd692' showing the station as a local service stands at platform 2 whilst a down service leaves platform 3. The use of three platforms is unusual and its unknown to the writer as to whether the three platforms were built as such from the start or whether the down platform was later rebuilt as an island. It certainly appears from this photograph to be the principal stopping place for trains in either direction. Platform 1, on the left, also provided staff with access to the 'Round' yard as is evident by the pathway at the end of the platform nearest to the camera.
