Close up of image 'gwrhd727' showing one of the regular 0-6-0PT 57xx class locomotives which were deployed in the yard on 2nd May 1939. Frank Popplewell records that in the late '1930s there were three '57XX' class 0-6-0PTs provided by Tyseley shed to be employed in the yard each day. The first locomotive worked a 24 hour duty from 5.15 am, the second an 18 hour day from 6.00 am, and the third worked an eight hour shift starting at 2.00 pm. They worked both the yard and shunted the wagons to and from the 'Round' Yard' as no trains stopped there to pick up or to set down'.
