GWR Route: North Warwickshire Line

Hall Green Station: gwrhg2926a

Close up of image 'gwrhg2926' showing the end of the up platform and part of the station's goods yard and lineside structures. The white painted corrugated structure is a lamp hut located for safety reasons away from passengers and buildings. They were used to store the oil, wicks, glasses and any other equipment required to keep them in good order. Whilst lighting in the passenger areas of the station were gas lit up to the 1960s before being replaced by electricity, the signals and other parts of the railway were reliant on the use of oil lamps. In the goods yard a small fixed hand operated crane is evident.
