GWR Route: North Warwickshire Line
Hall Green Station: gwrhg2931
A 1908 view of Hall Green station at the time of its opening
with some of the staff standing on the up platform. A busy passenger station
would require its staff to work two shifts to accommodate services starting
early in the morning and ceasing late in the evening, potentially an eighteen
hour day, seven days a week. The signal box would however require manning 24
hours a day, amounting to three shifts, as the line was a main route to the
South West of England and goods services would be run at night taking
advantages of the cessation of passenger services. In 1929 Hall Green was
stated to have a staff of fifteen including the signalmen.
