GWR Route: North Warwickshire Line

Hall Green Station: gwrhg2934

Looking south from York Road with the goods yard on the right and the connection to the steel stockholder on the left just before the signal box circa 1948. The advantage of the station and goods yard being built in 1908 was the availability of gas for lighting the station and key locations throughout the goods yard. At the throat of the sidings a gas lamppost has been provided which would help yard staff shunting the sidings at night or in poor inclement weather. Originally the yard would have been shunted by Aberdare Class locomotives before being replaced by various types of Pannier Tank locomotives.
