Ex-GWR 56xx Class 0-6-2T No 6697 is seen passing through Hatton with a BMC car train for the south on 7th May 1965. The cars would have been Austin Mini's built at Longbridge and shipped via Bordesley. The British Motor Corporation were later taken over by (or perhaps absorbed by) Leyland Motors to become British Leyland. Ultimately the change made no difference as the company failed under the Rover brand. Built by Swindon in October 1928, No 6697 remained in service until May 1966 when it was withdrawn from 6C Croes Newydd shed.
