GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

Knowle & Dorridge Station: gwrkd115

GWR 4-6-0 Star class No 4049 'Princess Maud' is seen at the head of an express approaching Knowle and Dorridge station in July 1925. Built in May 1914 it was initially allocated to Stafford Road shed in Wolverhampton, and was fitted with 'Castle' type outside steam pipes in February 1935. It remained in service until July 1953 when it was withdrawn from Stafford Road shed to be scrapped at Swindon works.
