GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

Knowle & Dorridge: gwrkd2801

The replacement Goods Yard, constructed on the Birmingham Up side of the station, seen in May 1934

During the quadrupling of the lines between Olton and Lapworth, the original Goods Shed at Knowle & Dorridge was demolished to make way for the additional main lines. This official photograph taken in May 1934 shows the replacement Goods Yard, constructed on the Birmingham Up side of the station. The new Goods Yard contained; a cattle dock suitable for 14 horse boxes, a six ton yard crane and 120 foot long by 40 foot wide metal framed Goods Shed. One siding passed through the Goods shed, which incorporated a one ton travelling crane. On the left were three mileage sidings.
