GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Knowle & Dorridge: gwrkd2801c
Close up of image 'gwrkd2801' showing Knowle and Dorridge's
new cattle dock which incorporated a concrete apron as protection to the track.
In the centre of the concrete apron is a gully which would take away the
inevitable urine that would drip from the wagons when the livestock was being
loaded. Each section of pens would be able to accommodate a number of cattle or
sheep, one pen for each wagon. Behind the cattle pen are four timber huts
probably being used by the coal merchants based at the goods yard.
