GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

GWR 2-6-2T 5101 class 'Large Prairie' No 5198 is seen standing at Platform 3 on a service from Birmingham terminating at Lapworth. Built at Swindon works in November 1934 No 5198 ran in service until June 1961 when it was with drawn from Taunton shed followed by scrapping in November 1961 at Swindon works. Martin Crane writes, 'Platform 3 was a dead-end Up and Down Bay platform whilst the other face of this platform, No 2, is the Down Main. The line in the foreground is the Down Goods loop, which continued beyond the station to become the Down Relief line northwards'.
