Ex-GWR 4-6-0 Castle class No 5081 'Lockheed Hudson', previously named 'Penrice Castle', is seen standing at the head of an up express in June 1950. Initially named 'Penrice Castle' when built at Swindon in May 1939, No 5081 was renamed in January 1941, as a mark of respect for the aircraft which had proven critical to to the war at sea. It remained in service until October 1963 when it was withdrawn from service from Cardiff East Dock shed to be scrapped in June 1964 by R Hayes of Bridgend.
