Ex-GWR 'Hall class 4-6-0 No 4908 'Broome Hall' passes through Leamington at the head of a down freight on 29th May 1963

Ex-GWR 'Hall class 4-6-0 No 4908 'Broome Hall' passes through Leamington at the head of a down freight on 29th May 1963. The locomotive is carry a Type 6 headlamp code designating the train as being an express freight train partly fitted, with the automatic brake operative on not less than 20% of the vehicles. Maximum speed would be limited to 45 mph and the wagons would be containing perishables goods, probably bound for Bordesley or Hockley. Built by Swindon works in January 1929, No 4908 was to remain in service only a few months more being withdrawn in October 1963 from 81E Didcot shed to be scrapped by J Cashmore of Newport.
