GWR 36xx Class 2-4-2T No 3610 stands 'cold' on the shed road one Sunday afternoon circa 1932. This class, originally described as 'double enders' when they were first introduced in 1900. The design included a number of new ideas including the enclosed cab and a bidirectional water scoop. The vent seen on top and in the centre of the tank had to be enlarged after the tanks kept on bursting when picking up water. Built at Swindon works in May 1902, No 3610 remained in service until November 1934 when it was withdrawn from RDG Reading shed to be scrapped by Swindon works.
