GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

View of bridge replacement works being undertaken by the GWR in the centre of Leamington. The new girders being inserted on the left of the locomotive are 'bow girders' formed by using prefabricated sections in a lattice arrangement. In all probability the bridge was being strengthened as part of a general upgrade of the route to accommodate the heavier 4-6-0 locomotives being introduced by Churchward in the first decade of the 20th century.
