Map showing Leamington's GWR station, goods yard and shed with avoiding lines shortly after opening in 1852. The map clearly shows that of the four tracks which occupied the space between the up and down platforms only two, those adjacent to the platforms, were through the lines with the two in the centre being sidings. From the outset, traffic not stopping at Leamington would need to use the avoiding lines which lay on the up side of the station when the two platform lines were occupied. The map shows there is no bay platform at the Birmingham end of the up platform whilst at the London end of the down platform two carriage turntables are located on the short siding to allow road vehicles to be embarked or disembarked. It should be noted that the LNWR's line to Rugby is single line at this date with the station consisting of a building and single platform on the 'north' side of the line.
