GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

Ex-GWR 4-6-0 49xx Class No 6933 'Birtles Hall' is seen entering Leamington station with a four coach local train in the early 1950s. John Copsey writes in Great Western Railway Journal that during the early part of the 1950s No 6933 was based at Oxford shed and would have probably worked another service home from Leamington later in the day. Built at Swindon works in December 1941, No 6933 was to remain in service until November 1963 when it was withdrawn from 2B Oxley shed to be scrapped by J Cashmores of Great Bridge.
