British Railways Standard Class 9F 2-10-0 No 92203 is seen piloting an unknown diesel on a down service to Snow Hill

British Railways Standard Class 9F 2-10-0 No 92203 is seen piloting an unknown diesel on a down service to Snow Hill. Built at Swindon works in April 1959, No 92203 was first allocated to 82B St Philips Marsh shed followed by 81A Old Oak Common before being allocated to 84C Banbury shed at the end of March 1963 where it stayed until September 1963 when it moved to 8H Birkenhead shed where it remained in service until November 1967 when it was withdrawn from service. David Shepherd, the artist, wanted to save a locomotive for posterity and was offered No 92203 which he accepted so it was withdrawn and handed over to Mr Shepherd for the princely sum of £3,000, working under it's own steam to the Longmoor Military Railway in Hampshire.
