Ex-GWR 0-4-2T No 5813 stands in Leamington's down bay platform with a Gresley Full Brake on 31st August 1957

Ex-GWR 0-4-2T No 5813 stands in Leamington's down bay platform with a Gresley Full Brake on 31st August 1957. The locomotiove is still carrying its GWR livery, albeit in a very dirty condition. As the locomotive was scrapped within three months of Tom Williams taking this photograph it is highly likely it remained in this condition when scrapped. Built by Swindon works in August 1933, No 5813 was allocated to 84D Leamington shed in April 1957 and had only a few months left in service before being withdrawn from Leamington shed in November 1957.

This is a black and white reproduction of a colour slide too degraded to be restored. Colour images saved by Phillip Williams are available in 'TE Williams The Lost Colour Collection Volume 1' ISBN 978-1-911262-04-6 Irwell Press Limited.
