GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

An unidentified GWR 4-4-0 (probably one of Wolverhampton's 6'-8½" 4-4-0s - Atbara, Flower, City) is thought to be working the 9.30am Birkenhead to Bournemouth train formed of LSWR stock. The daily running of the Birkenhead to Bournemouth through service, initiated in the late 1880s, had by the time of this photograph become a routine affair with one train of GWR stock proceeding in one direction whilst the return service was operated with LSWR stock. 5th December 1910
