GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Leamington Spa Station: gwrls865
The east end of the up platform showing the showing the point
where the platform changed from timber to brick construction. John Copsey
writes 'The right-hand end of the original main up platform was just to the
left of the bookstall' indicating he thought that the platform extension
started at this point. However John has made a mistake because if other
contemporary photographs are examined there are 24 columns in the above
structure the same number recorded by the 1853 records referred to in image 'gwrls850b'. The up platform was therefore same length
when first built as it was when the above photograph was taken. Its possible
the brick facing was required to be constructed due to the extension of the
subway through to the LNWR station.
