View of Moreton-in-Marsh's main station building located on the down side of the railway circa 1890s. The horse droppings seen in front of the entrance strongly indicate that much of the road transport carrying passengers to and from the station were horsedrawn supporting the view the photograph was late 19th century rather than early 20th century. The station could be approached via a direct access off the High Street near to the bridge carrying the Fosse Way over the railway. A second entrance was also off the High Street, via New Street (now renamed New Road), with a third entrance off London Road via Station Road. Such extensive facilities are a puzzle given the low population level of the town which, according to Vic Mitchell and Keith Smith in their book Moreton-in-Marsh to Worcester, in 1901 amounted to only 1,374 inhabitants and in 1961 only 1,935.
