Three-car Diesel Multiple Unit with W50077 leading on the local 1.35pm Moor Street to Stratford upon Avon service on 27th February 1960. From the late 1950s onwards steam hauled local passenger services were increasingly replaced by the motorised coaches seen above designed for the busy commuter services into London, and also for local services in Birmingham, Liverpool and throughout the BR Western Region. These were built with doors at each seating bay, and bench seats across the full width of the carriage for maximum seating capacity. Many were later rebuilt with 3+2 seating and gangways between carriages.
