View of the Babcock & Wilcox walking crane utilised in shed 'A' which with its 30 foot jib and ability to travel around the 'U' shaped platform allowed it to service both rail and road within the shed. The crane was kept in place by two rails, one on the floor which had to take the vertical load of both crane and load and one acting as a guide fixed to the ceiling which was to counter the turning motion when under load. Whereas Babcock & Wilcox made the crane and top guide with three conductor rails, the motors were provided by Messrs Harding Churton & Company and the controllers by Messrs Allen West.
