GWR Route: North Warwickshire Line

Pebworth Halt: gwrph3281

Ex-GWR 2-6-0 No 5332 is passing through Honeybourne North Junction with a Class H working in the late 1950s

Ex-GWR 2-6-0 No 5332 is passing through Honeybourne North Junction with a Class H working in the late 1950s. British Railways classified a Class H working as a 'Through freight or ballast train not running under class C, D, E, or F'. Strictly speaking this photograph falls way outside the remit of this website. However the lack of photographs taken at Pebworth and because its a great composition by Tom Williams, we just could not resist posting it. Built as GWR No 5332 by Swindon works in November 1917, the locomotive was renumbered as GWR No 8332 in January 1928 but then renumbered back to No 5332 in June 1944 which it retained until October 1961 when it was withdrawn from 87G Carmathen shed to be scrapped.

This is a black and white reproduction of a colour slide too degraded to be restored. Colour images saved by Phillip Williams are available in 'TE Williams The Lost Colour Collection Volume 1' ISBN 978-1-911262-04-6 Irwell Press Limited.
