GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

Rowington Junction & Troughs: gwrrj1936

A posed photograph of the workmen who worked maintaining the lines around Rowington Junction Signal Box

A posed photograph of the workmen who worked maintaining the lines around Rowington Junction Signal Box. The seniority of the people in the photograph can be easily determined by their respective head wear. The trilby is being worn by manager, whilst the bowler is being worn by the ganger with the flat caps being worn by the other workmen. There is the possibility that some of the men are signalmen as twelve P & W men does seem a little too excessive. The track seen curving to the left is the branch line just before it meets the main Birmingham to Leamington line (see image 'gwrrj264a'. The date of the photograph is unknown but is probably circa 1910.
