GWR Route: Stratford on Avon to Hatton

GWR Diesel Railcars W37 W and W38 W are seen with a Third class coach in between departing on the up 5:05pm Cardiff to Birmingham service on Friday 15th May 1942. The service departed Stratford on Avon at 7:30pm a little less than two and half hours after leaving Cardiff. At this time during the Second World War the 9:10am Birmingham to Cardiff and the 5:05pm return working were the only through services left on the line, serving Stratford on Avon, Cheltenham, Gloucester and Newport, with additional calls at Chepstow and Hall Green to set down only on northbound services. To the left is the single set of tracks from the Bay platform, the Cold Loop line having yet to be installed.
