Stratford upon Avon's original terminus station opened on 9th October 1860 now being used as the GWR's goods yard and shed. Essentially it was a branch line from the GWR's Oxford to Birmingham route, connecting at Hatton. Operated by the GWR it was of mixed gauge being able to take broad gauge traffic from the out set until 1869 although after 1863 most trains were standard gauge. The Birmingham Road station was used for passengers services for a very short space of time, until 24th July 1861. Thereafter trains ran into a station at Evesham Road although the above station was used for occasional excursion traffic up to 1869. The above view was taken in 1934 some 34 years before it closed on 6th May 1968.
