Close up of image 'gwrsh1116' showing Shirley station's goods shed and office secured by a pair of swing gates and the yard shed used to store equipment. The gates are of different widths reflecting the need for one gate to traverse the track and be secured against the raised platform. The platform continued into and through the goods shed and was the same height as the floor of wagons and vans and used to barrow off their contents. The wooden steps are a later addition as earlier photographs show only the brick steps.
