Close up of image 'gwrsh1118' showing Shirley station's cattle dock which appears to be able to handle two separate lots of livestock. One of the doors on the cattle wagon would fold down to act as a ramp for the cattle (or sheep) to enter the wagon. The white facade and floor is created by the limewash used to sterilise the area after the cattle had been moved. The effluent and manure generated by the cows posed a serious health risk and this was one way of minimising this.
