GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Small Heath and Sparkbrook Station: gwrsh1325
View Small Heath's down sidings looking North of whilst a
pair of unidentified ex-GWR 0-6-0PT 57xx class locomotives rest in between
shunting the yard during the early 1960s. The nearest Pannier Tank locomotive
is in fact taking on water and the fireman can be seen standing on the pannier
tank holding the 'bag' in the 'hole' whilst the driver stands at the base of
the column controlling the flow. Rod Liddiard, ex-Tyseley and Old Oak Common
fireman writes, 'The view is of the 'Up' sidings with Bolton Road's houses in
the background. Its just possible to see Small Heath Bridge in the background,
an extension of Jenkin Street'.
