This view taken some forty feet further back than image 'gwrsh489' shows that the first twenty five years of its life was kinder than the next twenty five years. Although time has seen the track and station become blackened by soot and smoke, the station is still relatively well kept, with the platforms neat and tidy and flower beds well looked after. The Second World War changed everything. Initially because of the shortage of manpower during the conflict and latterly because of the difficulties of attracting staff when better paid jobs existed in the factories.
