View of Shipston Road Level Crossing being closed by the guard as seen from the rear of his brake van with the gate keeper's house on the right. Gate keepers were made redundant after passenger services ceased in 1929 and the houses were sold in to private ownership. The ladders leaning against the telephone poles indicate the road vehicles on the right were General Post Office (GPO) vehicles and include the once common site of a dark-green GPO engineer's van. 2 July 1953
