The main station entrance and booking office above the up main line platform on the north side of Benson Road bridge. Again the red pressed brick, Staffordshire blue brick plinth and shaped concrete lintels dominate. The timber painting scheme is the typical Great Western Railway arrangement for brick buildings:

  • Light stone (Standard Tint No.1) used only as a first coat.
  • Med stone (Standard Tint No.2) on the barge boards and door panels.
  • Dark stone (Standard Tint No.3) on door frames, wooden plinths, structural door timbers (not panels), window frames, cills and mullions. The metal down pipes and guttering would also be painted dark stone.
  • White on window sashes and glass framing. The station sign is white raised letters on a black board with white framing.
