An undated photograph of the southern junction for
Tyseleys Carriage Sidings. In the Carriage Sidings there were originally
twelve sidings arranged in two groups of six, but three additional dead end
sidings were subsequently added in 1924 and further alterations took place in
1957. A pair of loop lines lead to the Locomotive Works on the left from the
Goods (or Avoiding) Lines which curve away to the right. Two double compound
switch crossings allow for Down access to Carriage Sidings Nos 7 to 12 and Up
egress from the Carriage Sidings Nos 1 to 6 from these Loop lines.
Adjacent to the platform is the Down Relief line. The
glazing in the full width platform canopy can be clearly seen and although
almost devoid of people, the scene is full of interest - On the platform a
ladder has been positioned into the canopy space, while several packages are
stacked at various positions along the platform. On the extreme right is a
packaged motorcycle, which were frequently carried as Parcels traffic from
Tyseley.
In 1928 the Parcels Rates for the conveyance of each
motorcycle by passenger train at the Owners Risk (or Company Risk) was as
follows:
