Drawing of the standpipes seen in several photographs of locomotives inside the Tyseley Roundhouse

These Standpipes can be seen in several photographs of locomotives inside the Tyseley Roundhouse (including; 'gwrt302', 'gwrt314', 'gwrt327a', 'gwrt352', 'gwrt2369', 'gwrt2986', 'gwrt2987' and 'gwrt2988'). This drawing is from the Great Western Railway Approved list of Standard Water Pipes and Fittings (First impression September 1921, reissued September 1936), which states that the items listed were with a few exceptions kept in stock by the Stores Department at Swindon and those articles which were not in stock could usually be obtained at reasonably short notice. The Great Western Railway operated a regular weekly service with a number of travelling stores vans for the delivery, collection and exchange of stores. The routes identified in 1926 were:

Van No 1 - South Wales District
Van No 2 - West of England District
Van No 3 - Northern District
Van No 4 - London & Midland District
Van No 5 - Central Wales District
